Roles

The role a Hero plays determines the part they play in combat. Each Hero may invest in any and all of the available roles in Last Odyssey, but may only play one role at a time. Out of combat, they may switch between roles at will, while in combat they must switch roles during the Paradigm Phase. While they play a role, they may use any of its associated abilities that their player has unlocked via advancement except for the capstone ability, which can only be used by their eidolon. Any of the unlocked passive abilities for a role, such as Trained Spellcaster, only apply if the Hero currently occupies the role. In addition, while playing a given role a Hero gains extra role-dependent bonuses to three different statistics equal to their three attributes.
