Ranger

A Ranger’s core virtue is their Focus. At Hero creation, they gain the following traits:

Advancements by Tier

Tier 1: Ability.

Name Type Cost Description
Mark Target Ranged 1 AP The Ranger inflicts the Hunted status on the target. When they use a spell, strike, or sleight on the target, their player casts the hit die twice and chooses the number they prefer. This does not apply to attacks that target multiple warriors. Only one warrior can have the Hunted status inflicted on them per Ranger in the party. If a Hunted warrior dies due to one of the Ranger’s attacks, they may immediately use Mark Target on another warrior at no AP cost.

Tier 2: The Ranger gains +1 Physical Accuracy.

Tier 3: Ability.

Name Type Cost Description
Forest Walk Passive N/A The Ranger is immune to having their movement impaired for any reason, and immune to any effects that force them to move. They may still voluntarily move due to friendly powers such as the Commander’s Orders.

Tier 4: The Ranger gains +1 Physical Accuracy.

Tier 5: Ability.

Name Type Cost Description
Lay Trap Special 5 MP, 1 AP The Ranger designates either the front row or the back row of their opponents’ side of the battlefield. Tier 6: The Ranger gains +1 Physical Accuracy.

Tier 7: Ability.

Name Type Cost Description
Cripple Passive N/A All of the Ranger’s allies that attack a Hunted warrior with single-target attacks now gain the advantage of Hunted.

Tier 8: The Ranger gains +1 Physical Accuracy.

Tier 9: The Ranger gains +1 Physical Accuracy.

Capstone: Ability.

Name Type Cost Description
Wild Hunt Multi 1 🜉, 2 AP The eidolon applies Hunted to all opponents and then makes a basic attack against each one.

Talents

Striker: True Strike. When the Ranger uses a strike against a Hunted warrior, they may remove the Hunted status in order to guarantee that their target is hit regardless of the result of the hit die.

Caster: Detonate. When a warrior triggers the effect of Lay Trap, the Ranger may use a single-target spell against them rather than a basic attack. When they do so, their player may cast the hit die twice and choose between the two results.

Healer: Rescuscitate. The Ranger may use their Mark Target ability to apply the Watched status to one of their allies. When a Watched character drops to 0 HP or below, the Watched status is removed, and they regain an amount of HP equal to the Ranger’s Magical Attack when the status was applied. Only one ally may be Watched by the Ranger at a time.

Defender: Forcefield. The Ranger may use the Mark Target ability to apply the Defended status to an ally. The next time a Defended character is hit by a sleight, a spell, or a strike, the damage or status is negated. Only one ally may be Defended by the Ranger at a time.

Support: Herbal Medicine. The Ranger may use the Mark Target ability to apply the Treated status to an ally. Treated allies ignore the cumulative effects of all hexes that have been applied to them, although they will still be influenced by the effects of any applied charms. Only one ally may be Treated by the Ranger at a time.

Saboteur: Poison Arrow. When a warrior is affected by the Lay Trap ability, the Ranger may use a single-target sleight on them instead of their basic attack. When they do so, their player casts the hit die as though the warrior were Hunted.
