Welcome
to the System Reference Document for the Last Odyssey role playing game. If you know what this is already and would like me to get out of your way, go read the playbill and start learning about the game. Every page on this website is full of these hyperlinks to other relevant pages for your convenience, which means that there is no “correct” order in which to read the rules. Just pick a page that interests you and get started.
On the other hand, if you have no clue what any of this is about, I’d like to kindly direct you to the introductory pages, where you’ll learn precisely what Last Odyssey is and how to play it. Once you’ve read those, you can also check out the playbill. If you’re any type of beginner, whether to RPGs, FRP, Last Odyssey, whatever, you should also know that the purpose of this website is to contain all of the instructions for how to play Last Odyssey in as clear and accessible of a format as possible. I also tried to err on the side of brevity, which means there just isn’t a lot of room for extra explanation. If you’re interested in finding a friend or two to answer any burning questions you’ve got, you can join the Pelagic Shard Circus Tent, which is linked at the bottom of this page.
Alright, I see you narrowing your eyes at me. An entire ruleset? For free? What’s the catch? The catch is quite simple: I want you to play this game.1 I’m not entitled to your precious time, and if you’d like you can just close this window and never think about me or my humble little role playing game ever again. But, since you clicked on this link, and since you read this far, and since you’re still reading, and you’re still reading, and you’re still (sorry, just messing with you) reading, then there’s something about this system that intrigues you. In which case, go read the rules, find some friends, and get playing. Then, when you’ve played a session and/or explored the rules enough to find at least one thing about this game you love, get more people to do the same. Then, get a whole campaign going. Then…
Well, who knows?

An unfortunate caveat to all of this is that my money has to come from somewhere. If you're interested in supporting me financially, I've got a ko-fi tip jar linked in the footer and a Patreon where you can send 5 bucks a month to me by subscribing (actually, I'll receive $4.50 a month since Patreon takes a 10% cut. Whoops). At this early stage, the more financial support I receive, the more time I will have to work on this game and on future games (which may or may not already exist...shhhh), and the more time and effort I'll be able to devote to Pelagic Shard as a whole. Once I think Last Odyssey is cooked enough to get cut up and brought to the bake sale, I'll also be fundraising for a print run, so if you would like to contribute to that you can follow the Kickstarter page and pledge money when it opens.
