Last Odyssey

Spending Anima

Each Hero is empowered with magic whose root is the 🜉 accumulated inside of their souls. All Heroes can have a maximum of 10 🜉 at a time. Once they accumulate this much, they must spend some in order to earn any more.

The purpose of 🜉 is to manipulate fate in the Heroes’ favor beyond what would be possible through ordinary means. As such, players can spend 🜉 in or out of combat in any of the following ways:

The Consequences of 🜉 Usage

Every time any character, Hero or otherwise, uses 🜉 and it is not transferred to a character that can already use 🜉, the GM add how much was used to a running tally called the 🜉 Pool that is hidden from all participants except the GM. When Heroes earn 🜉 from Scenes, this score drops by the amount that was earned. When the GM creates a new Antagonist, they may give them starting 🜉 that is then removed from this tally, up to the character maximum of 10. No matter what, the 🜉 Pool can never go below 0. Note that the GM still has the freedom to introduce Antagonists whenever they feel is appropriate.

During combat with an Antagonist, any 🜉 spent on one side is immediately gained by the opposing side. Any excess 🜉 gained above 10 dissipates instead.
